Our Unique Approach

At Kreative Crafts, we strive to be more than a regular online shop. Nestled in Kathmandu, we see ourselves as a bridge connecting Nepal’s rich craft traditions to your personal journey toward serenity. Blessed with the opportunity to be right at the heart of the action in Kathmandu and collaborating with an amazing network of carefully selected artisans, we are able to provide unique crafts, accessories, and services not available anywhere else. Here’s what sets us apart and what you can expect from us.

Crafting Unique Designs

Unlike most online shops that simply resell wholesale, we partner with our Kathmandu artisans to design and craft with care our own collections of singing bowls, gongs, and accessories. Our aim is to create original pieces that stand out from the ordinary and feel right at home in your space or studio

Delivering Premium Quality

Our commitment to quality begins with our skilled artisans in Kathmandu, with whom we share a genuine, heartfelt connection. Thanks to this special bond, we’re the first to access their newly made batches, allowing us to handpick their finest creations. Since each piece’s quality can greatly vary due to its handmade nature—even within a same batch—being first to select is truly the key to ensuring the top quality of every craft we present to you. Before shipping, we also conduct a thorough final quality check to ensure no damage had occurred during the handling and/or the customization process of your crafts.

Fully Personalizing Your Crafts And Accessories

Most of our crafts, including bowls, gongs, and accessories, can be tailored to your liking. Whether you want to create the perfect gift with special touches, brand your sets with your identity, or craft a piece that reflects who you are, you can trust our artisans to make it happen. The process is simpler than you think—our team is here to support you. Check out our dedicated [Bowl Personalization Page] or contact us to create your own masterpiece.

Ever Growing collections

Kathmandu is an incredible city with a vibrant creative scene, and we feel so blessed to be part of it. Staying here lets us constantly connect with new artisans—well-known or lesser-known—and our goal is to shine a light on their creations. While we offer them a tiny bit of visibility, it also gives you the chance to discover genuine made in Nepal handicrafts, reminiscent of past local markets, unlike the flood of the same ever again items you can currently find online. If this sparks your interest, check our website regularly or join our social media, where we showcase their new crafts and let them share their own stories

How It All Began

Kathmandu Calling

Six years ago, a job opportunity as a pilot came my way to be based in Nepal. I’d never been there and knew little about it apart from the Himalayas and Lumbini, where Buddha was born. Still, Nepal has always been on our bucket list for my wife Chi and me, and it didn’t take us long before saying yes to the offer. On November 17, 2017, we touched down for the first time in Kathmandu, not fully ready but excited for what was next. Right at the airport, our new landlord Sonam came to greet us the traditional Nepali way, placing a khata scarf around our necks with a kind smile, and gave us a little welcome gift: two vouchers for a sound therapy session with Kalpana. He’d just tried it a few days before and thought it would be perfect to help us get rid of our jetlag. We went a few days later, and that was our first meeting with the singing bowls.

The session took place in a cozy studio in Thamel, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that felt like an escape. As it began, Kalpana’s soft voice and the gentle sounds of singing bowls and other instruments drew us right in, making the one-hour session slip by in a flash. The best part was how we felt afterward—refreshed, like after a great massage, but also clear-headed, as if our minds had been rebooted, ready to go again. It was the kind of calm we’d get a few hours after an intense workout, but this hit instantly. We enjoyed that feeling and started visiting Kalpana’s studio regularly, making it our spot to chill whenever we had free time.

Each session was different, with Kalpana tweaking the bowls’ tones to fit the time of day or our mood, but we always left feeling good and refreshed. One day, after a session, Kalpana told us about their new sound therapy course, saying we might enjoy learning how it all works. We signed up right away for both the initial and advanced courses, eager to dive in. The courses were a series of engaging workshops where we played alternatively the role of the healer or the client, making it both interactive and fun. Class after class, we slowly got the hang of it, and about a month later, after something like fifteen sessions, we both received our healer certificates.

Excited about our new certificates, maybe a bit too much, we started sharing our experience with friends and family. Some thought we’d lost it, but quite a few were curious, and that’s how we started getting our first requests for singing bowls. At first, we just packed the bowls in our bags every time we headed home. Before long, orders were increasing, even from people we didn’t know, which pushed us to start shipping and seek more artisans as demand grew for not only bowls but also gongs, thangkas, and pashminas. At this point, it was clearly becoming more than a simple hobby, and it became evident to us that it was our chance to start a small venture—something we’d wanted to do for long. A few brainstorming sessions later, Kreative Crafts was born, with the ‘K’ for Kathmandu, the place that started it all. Since then, we’ve set up our little team and are always connecting with new artisans to be able to offer you more unique, personalizable crafts and services. Interested to be part of our little journey? Join us on our social media to keep up with our latest updates, explore new crafts, and dive into our artisans’ world of artistry and techniques.

Meet Our Small Team

At Kreative Crafts, we’re more than a group of collaborators. We are a team of friends drawn together by our shared interest in sound healing and the authentic crafts made in Nepal. From managing our artisans to handling logistics and supporting you, each of us has a specific role to help you find the right crafts and enjoy the best experience possible with us.

Our Artisans
The Core Of Our Business

Our artisans are the backbone of Kreative Crafts, and without them nothing would be possible. Most are based in the Kathmandu valley, with others from nearby regions, each bringing their own talent. Gong and bowl makers, thangka painters, engraving and etching artists, wood carvers, sewers, and many more are currently part of our constantly evolving network. It is thanks to their diverse skills and dedication that we are able to offer you our exclusive collections and the chance to customize your crafts like no one else. To dive into our artisans’ world and discover more about their lives, follow us on our social media where we unveil their stories in our Artisans Series.

Lan chi
Co-Creator & Operations Head

Namaste! I am Lan Chi. Before Kreative Crafts got going, I worked as a freelance photographer specializing in children’s photography. Now with Kreative, I’m in charge of operations, which basically means making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. What I love most about my current position is that there’s no routine, and I am constantly connected with every team member, consistently picking up new things. When I’m not too busy, my little pleasure is to head to the workshop, check the latest crafts we received from our artisans, and snap some pictures for our website or social media. You can reach me at chi@kreative-crafts.com—if I don’t answer, just be patient, I might be sorting out a few things or most probably taking my break enjoying a little bit of yoga!

Julien
Co-Creator & Artisan Relations

Namaste! I am Julien. My role at Kreative Crafts is primarily to take care of our artisans. It includes regularly visiting their workshops to talk about our collections or coordinate your custom requests, ensuring your vision is correctly passed on to them. I also ensure our artisans’ crafts consistently meet our standards, and together we regularly look for solutions to optimize our processes. Another part of my job, perhaps the one I enjoy the most at the moment, is seeking and connecting with new artisans, which takes me throughout the valley and always brings enriching stories. To connect with me, feel free to email me at julien@kreative-crafts.com. Cheers!

Lena
Constant idea bringer & chief happiness officer

Hello, friends! I am Lena, and I am 5 years old. Just to be clear, I’m super happy to be part of this amazing team and not forced to be here—my parents aren’t in trouble! Actually, I don’t really have duties, but I just love to be in the middle of the action to share positive vibes and my thoughts on almost everything, especially new design ideas. The latest one that came to my mind, my ultra-favorite so far, is my rainbow singing bowl with engraved unicorns. For some reason, it’s still under review, but I’m sure it would be super beautiful, and I really do not understand why it’s taking so much time to be approved—so please, if you too would love to see it happen as much as I do, please send an email to info@kreative-crafts.com mentioning my name to support my project. It would really help! Thanks in advance, and keep smiling wherever you are!

Gagan
Operations & Client Care Lead

I was born and raised in Nepal, growing up in the south of Kathmandu among artisans, but I was not really into it at that time. It’s only after meeting Julien and joining Kreative Crafts, while searching for new artisans, that I developed an interest and even realized that many of my family members were involved in diverse craft traditions. Since then, my interest in sound healing has grown, leading me to a healer course. I recently relocated to London from where I actively oversee the client support and assist with marketing. In addition, I study filmography during my downtime. I’m looking forward to hearing from you and helping you find your perfect craft.

Nabina
Sound Healing Facilitator, Meditation Guide, and Yoga Instructor

Namaste! I’m Nabina from Nepal, and I’m the head sound healer at Kreative Crafts. Growing up surrounded by ancient temples and the rhythmic chants of Newari culture in Bhaktapur, I’ve always felt a quiet pull toward spiritual things. Sound healing, yoga, and meditation have been a big part of my life since my youth, shaping me into who I am today. Most of the time, people would describe me as very grounded, calm, and positive, and I’d say that’s pretty accurate :). When I’m not teaching or busy at the studio, I love simple joys like cooking healthy meals with friends or heading out for a morning hike followed by some yoga at sunrise—just my perfect way to start the day. See you soon in Kathmandu! In the meantime, you can reach me at nabina@kreative-crafts.com. Cheers!

Rabindra
Workshop Coordinator

Namaste! I am Rabindra, from Kalikot in northwestern Nepal, a place famous for its high-altitude medical herbs. I came to Kathmandu in 2016 to pursue my studies, and I’m currently studying for my Bachelor’s in Social Work and English. At Kreative Crafts, I coordinate with artisans to make sure crafts reach our workshop on schedule. I also manage the stock levels, and I’m the one who packs your orders carefully to ensure they arrive safely to you. When I have free time, I love singing with my band, playing football, or collecting unique clothes. Take care, and I am looking forward to preparing your next order.

Bijen
Workshop Manager

Namaste! I am Bijen, from Lalitpur, but 15 km south of Kathmandu, a place famous for wood carving in which some of my family members are involved. At Kreative Crafts, I manage the workshop, liaising with shipping companies to coordinate your packages’ pick-ups and follow up to make sure you receive your package on time. I’m also the one who gets your tracking number and ensures it’s shared with you right away. Passionate about photography, when I am not too busy, I like to help Sushant with photoshoots. I study part-time with Rabindra for my Bachelor’s in Social Work, and when it’s time to chill, music and sports are my go-to. I am looking forward to serving you and handling your future order. Cheers!

Sushant
Visual content coordinator

Namaste, I’m Sushant, the guy putting together all the pictures and videos you see on Kreative Krafts’ website and social media. I’m mostly in charge of the designs and visuals, but I also love grabbing my camera and taking shots myself when I have a spare moment. Being born and raised in Patan, one of the main creative hubs for the arts in Nepal, it’s really a pleasure for me to have the opportunity to work on a daily basis with those crafts. Off the clock, I enjoy hiking—whether it’s the hills around Kathmandu or longer treks if time allows. I’m also into cinema and sketching. Don’t hesitate to let me know what you think of my work—sushant@kreative-crafts.com!
